Art Challenge

I thought that if I blogged about this challenge it just might make me do it!! I've seen various challenges of varying lengths all over the internet and never seem to be able to commit to them. However, I recently completed LetterMo - a month of letter writing -  so with that success behind me I have decided to try the following challenge...

It starts on June 1st and runs for 61 days so lets hope I can keep up! I figure that because of the size of the cards it is not going to take long to fill up the card with whatever prompt is given. I may post a few pictures on this blog as I go (but don't worry-I won't post all 61 of them!!)

Our Soccer star!

So, the wettest Saturday we have seen for a while sees us down at our local soccer grounds watching as Briar plays her first game of soccer.

Intrepid supporters!

Ready for action!

The effort is showing!

She plays for North Breakers and they won their first game 7-2!! The whole team played well and showed great spirit and teamwork. Briar really enjoyed her first game even though it was so wet and miserable. And it was a bonus to have her aunt and uncle on the sidelines watching her.

Letters, letters, letters...

So I finally got around to writing a few letters this week (and some postcards too!)

I am a wee bit behind in my letter-writing but will be making another concerted effort this week to get a few more letters written. I love seeing them in my mailbox and, as we all know...the best way to get a letter is to send one!  :)

Bird spotting

I love running and my latest training is taking place in our local mountain bike park where I run amongst pine trees and bush listening to the sound of birdsong (when I'm not puffing TOO loudly!)
Earlier this year I was amazed to suddenly spot an unusual looking bird I had never seen before...
...a long-tailed cuckoo!

It was very cool to see and even though I keep a lookout, I haven't seen another one since. But while I was out running today I came across another bird that isn't very commonly seen...

...a black robin!
Isn't he cute? He was on the ground and I nearly stood on him before he flew off. It certainly adds to the experience of running when you don't know what you are going to discover. I wonder what other birds I may come across in the future?

Mothers Day!

What a fantastic Mother's Day I had. It started with a lovely breakfast in bed and hot cup of tea. I got to enjoy a lovely lie in and a chance to read a book. I also received presents-yay! A gorgeous heart necklace and my favourite chocolates-Turkish Delight.

Then my girls and I decided to go for a walk seeing as it was such a glorious day. So we headed to Lake Moananui where we enjoyed the beautiful autumn colours the trees were displaying and the lovely sunshine...

Afterwards we had a relaxing, quiet afternoon at home before a quick drive to Hamilton with Subway for dinner so I didn't have to cook.

Thanks girls...it was a perfect day!

Wellington, here we come!

Well, some of us anyway. Briar and Olivia flew down on Saturday morning (after a delayed flight time!) and spent the weekend with their Aunty and Uncle. It sounds like they had a FANTASTIC time!! Shopping, eating, shopping, sightseeing, shopping, activities and...more shoppping!! Are there any clothes left in Wellington stores??

Here is the plane they flew in...at Hamilton Airport...

...and now they are on their way!

They had an absolute blast and loved spending time with their Aunty Dawn and Uncle Arthur. Thanks so much for having them! I hope I can add a couple more photos whenI receive them soon.
